With spring on the horizon, now is the ideal time to schedule your window replacement project. While replacing your windows in the winter can easily be done with a trusted contractor like us, the milder conditions of spring do make the process a bit simpler.
Read on as Renewal by Andersen® of Portland explains why spring is the ideal time to tackle window replacement:
Less Rain
On average, the amount of precipitation in the Pacific Northwest drops beginning in January. It will still rain from time to time, but spring signals the transition to the dry season. As inclement weather becomes more predictable during spring, installers have one less thing to worry about when replacing windows.
Better Caulk Adhesion
Caulking is easier when the air is warmer. 60 degrees Fahrenheit is the right temperature to apply the sealant smoothly and evenly. It still doable when the air is chilly, but it might take a longer time since the caulk needs to warm up. Likewise, sealing a window replacement on a hot day is doable, but more challenging. If you can tackle your project in the spring, that will be the better solution.
Lower Chance of Material Contraction
Replacement windows contract in the cold. It’s better to caulk them when it’s warmer to keep the sealant from cracking or splitting. Doing the installation in late winter or spring is helps maintain the weathertight seal of your new windows.
