Cleaning your windows is a tedious task, but the payoff makes it worth your time. Not only does window cleaning keep your home looking its best, but it can also delay the need for window replacement.
Today, Renewal by Andersen® of Portland shares some essential tips to help keep your windows spotless throughout fall.
Regular Cleaning Helps
The more often you clean your windows, the easier and less time consuming window cleaning will be. Windows that are seldom cleaned accumulate dirt on the glass. This can be difficult to remove with only soap and water. Keep a regular cleaning routine to make things easier on yourself.
Avoid Cleaning on Sunny Days
When the sun dries the water on your replacement windows, water spots form on the glass and are difficult to remove. To avoid this problem, wait for a cloudy day to clean your windows, and be sure to dry the windows thoroughly using a squeegee and wipe with a soft dry cloth for good measure.
Never Use Abrasives
Scrub pads used to remove persistent dirt can etch the window glass. If soap and water can’t remove grime, add white vinegar or ammonia to the solution and then try again. Never use white vinegar or ammonia undiluted, as this can damage parts of the window.
