In the first part of this special blog, Renewal by Andersen® of Portland explored the four factors that drag down your windows’ energy efficiency. Here, we discuss how we mitigate these issues to ensure exceptional, long-lasting performance.
Here’s how our replacement windows can take your home’s energy efficiency to the next level:
Advanced Glazing
Our dual-pane windows feature a spectrally selective, multi-layer Low-E coating. Our most energy-efficient option, the Low-E4® SmartSun™ glass, has a U-factor of 0.24, which meets the requirements of the Northern Climate Zone. This high-performance glass only allows 28% of solar heat through, helping your home stay cool during the summer.
Beyond glass, we also utilize a stainless-steel spacer and an argon gas blend to increase the insulating properties of our products. In addition, our patented Fibrex® frame material is an excellent insulator.
Rigid Material
Made from reclaimed wood fibers and proprietary polymers, our Fibrex frame material remains stable even in the face of extreme temperature changes. Its thermal expansion rate is less than half of vinyl’s, making it the better choice for window replacement.
Masterful Installation
Our custom-built windows are measured twice to fit within a sixteenth-of-an-inch of the opening. Our project technicians assess the condition of the existing frames, sashes, casing and trim to identify structural problems and follow the appropriate installation method. During installation, our Certified Master Installers will add insulation around the framework with close attention to detail to ensure a weathertight seal.
Narrow Framing
Thanks to the incredible strength of Fibrex, we can afford to make our window frames narrower than other brands of windows. As a result, our windows have a low glass-to-frame ratio to reduce thermal transfer further.
