The 20-Year Durability Study
To test the performance of their products, window manufacturers run each product through a variety of industry-approved standard tests. These include extended exposure to conditions simulating hot and cold temperatures and ultraviolet rays.
Renewal by Andersen decided to take these tests to another level by installing replacement windows on actual homes and observing their performance over a long period of time. In a recently concluded 20-year durability study, window replacement pros removed 10 double-hung windows from a home in Minnesota—20 years after they were first installed. Extensive laboratory work and on-site testing were done for analysis.
The findings were astounding: the windows were found to be in almost the same condition as they were 20 years ago. They were still strong and easy to open. Not only that, but they were able to withstand Minnesota’s muggy summers and blistering winters, showing no signs of cracking, peeling or chipping. This study proved that Fibrex-made replacement windows perform well with age.
A Better Window Frame Alternative
Windows with Fibrex frames outperform the other common window materials. Wood, for instance, requires extensive maintenance. Fibrex is just as strong and beautiful as authentic wood, but unlike wood is rot resistant and never needs to be repainted. Aluminum frames may be durable and weather-resistant, but they are very poor insulators. That’s why Fibrex frames are manufactured to be 700 times better in terms of insulation.
Fibrex is a revolutionary window material because of its strength, durability and energy efficiency.
