Routine Maintenance
Routine maintenance of your windows extends their service life. Simply cleaning out dirt and debris from the window sills and tracks ensures that your windows will open and close properly, preventing drafts and mechanical problems. You can do this by mixing a mild solution of soap and water and then using a soft rag or brush to clean the sash, grilles, and frames.
You can simply wipe loose dirt and grime from the glass if it’s starting to show. We also recommend a home cleaning solution, such as mild, soapy water or water with a few parts of vinegar to clean the glass. Routine maintenance keeps your new windows clean and minimizes the risk of needing a premature window replacement.
Hardware Care
Caring for your window hardware is similar, although we don’t recommend using abrasive cleaners or cloths as these may damage the hardware. Use a mild detergent and a water solution paired with a soft cloth to clean the bronze and metallic parts of the windows. If the metallic parts are starting to fade, you can apply some light machine oil to deepen the coloration and sheen.
