Important Elements of a Good Window Replacement Contract

High-quality replacement windows might be a significant investment, but they provide better energy efficiency, durability and reliability than regular off-the-shelf units. To get the most out of them, you need to hire a contractor that not only offers these products but also can be trusted to execute a proper installation. Before agreeing to work with them and signing on the dotted line, make sure to examine the details of the contract. Here’s what you need to look for:

Project Overview and Timeline

The window replacement contract should include the details you discussed during the initial consultation such as your preferred window style, your choice of frame color, hardware and glass. It should also indicate the project’s timeline from start to finish. This way, you know exactly what to expect when the crew arrives on the day of installation.

List of Materials

Make sure the contract has an itemized list of materials that will be used for the project. See if there’s other important information indicated in each item. It should also clearly state which materials will be used and the cost of each.

Proof of License and Insurance

You will know you hired a reputable contractor if the contract has information about their current license. This means that they are allowed to sell and install replacement windows in your area. It should also mention that they carry insurance to protect you from property damage that may occur while the project is underway.

Payment Terms and Schedule

This part of the contract spells out the contractor’s payment requirements on both the windows and the installation. If there’s a down payment that needs to be paid, make sure it doesn’t exceed 30% of the total cost.

When you hire Renewal by Andersen® of Oregon and SW Washington to install your replacement windows, expect us to provide a detailed contract. We will be more than happy to discuss everything in it with you. Get started by calling (503) 912-2668 or filling out our contact form to schedule a consultation.
