Insert and Full Frame Window Installation Methods

At Renewal by Andersen® of Portland, we’re proud to be your local source of high-performance window replacement services in Oregon & SW Washington. We offer two window installation methods: the insert window method and full frame window installation. Read on as we discuss the difference between the two methods and explain which would work best for your home.

Insert Window Installation

The insert window installation method simply involves inserting the new window into your current frame. This type of installation makes sense when the old window sill and frame are square, and more importantly, in good condition. This also applies in cases where the existing construction would make the insert method hassle free, or if the trim and window casing need to remain in place throughout the installation process.

Full Frame Window Installation

With the full frame window installation, we would be removing the entire existing window and installing your new replacement windows. We resort to this method when the old window frame is in an advanced stage of deterioration. We also recommend this if you want to improve your home’s energy efficiency due to leakage caused by old, worn down window frames. Finally, there will be instances where your existing window frame can’t physically allow window replacement, making the full frame window installation method a necessity.

No matter which method we choose for your replacement windows, we’ll guarantee an impeccable installation. Call us at (503) 419-3960 for more information on our energy-efficient window products and professional window services. We offer professional window replacement throughout Salem, Portland, Lake Oswego, and other parts of Oregon.
