With the holiday season approaching, it’s time to decorate! When hanging holiday decorations in and around your home, make sure to take the proper safety precautions to avoid damaging your walls and windows.
In this blog, trusted window replacement contractor Renewal by Andersen® of Oregon and SW Washington shares tips for hanging Christmas decorations without damaging your windows and other interior components.
Use the Curtain Rod
There’s no need to put transparent tape or inject staple wire to keep your holiday decorations in place. You can decorate your windows without harming the frames or glass by using a curtain rod and a fishing line. Cut each piece of fishing line in different lengths and tie them to the ornaments. This creates visual interest and is also completely safe for your windows.
Remove the Screens
Before hanging up the ornaments, consider removing the screens from your replacement windows. With those out of the way, a person passing by your home can more easily see the decorations inside. Your living space will surely evoke a festive and cheerful mood once you’re done decorating. The varying lengths of fishing line dangling at the center of your window help make it seem like the ornaments are floating in the air.
Protect Your Walls and Doors
Instead of using hooks or other attachments that require you to drill a hole on your wall or door, consider an adhesive-backed alternative. Decorate the walls by placing two hooks distanced between each other, looping a string or fishing line to both, and attaching a lightweight ornament onto it using a clothespin. When transforming your front door with garlands, make sure to use small adhesive ceiling hooks.
