Ways Fibrex® is better than Fiberglass Windows

There are different types of materials used to make window frames. Depending on the material, windows can be energy-efficient, durable, stylish, and environmentally friendly. Some may even require little to no maintenance.

One of the most popular choices for window framing material is fiberglass. This type of window frame does not expand or contract under extreme temperatures, while still being energy-efficient. To top the benefits of fiberglass and other window materials, Renewal by Andersen® has produced our own composite material: Fibrex®.

Benefits of Fibrex

Through many years of research and development, we have created a material that is stronger and more durable than wood. We use Fibrex for all of our Portland, OR, replacement windows and patio doors. Our composite material works better than fiberglass in three ways:

  • Low maintenance

Fiberglass windows need frequent repainting and maintenance. With windows from Renewal by Andersen of Portland, you’ll never have to worry about painting or scraping. Fibrex is guaranteed not to rot, decay, or mold.

  • Environmental responsibility

During manufacturing, continuous strands of fiberglass are combined with resin, producing a product called thermoset. This material is cannot be reused or reformed into new materials once cured.

Fibrex, on the other hand, is made of 40% of raw material by weight is reclaimed wood fiber. We do not contribute to landfill waste because the reclaimed materials can be reground and reused to make another batch of window frames. Our environmental efforts have led to certifications from Green Seal and ENERGY STAR.

  • Beauty

The colors and styles of fiberglass is not enough to enhance the curb appeal of your home. All of our windows preserve the architectural style of your home. All frames and sashes are designed to reflect the original shape and lines of your old window. Furthermore, the durability of Fibrex allows it to be made into curved specialty windows. You can also have narrower frames for more glass area.

At Renewal by Andersen of Portland, we offer quality and reliable window replacement in Salem, OR, and the nearby areas. Our Fibrex windows can withstand any weather condition and can enhance the look of your home. Combined with our Low-E4® glass packages, our windows help you save money by reducing energy consumption.=

Choose the right window frame that will give your more benefits than any other material. You can schedule a free in-home assessment by calling us at or filling out our contact form.
