Remove Dirt and Debris

Dirt and debris tend to collect on the window sill, as well as in tight crevices such as the area between the window sash and glass. If you have sliding windows, dirt and grit may get caught in the bottom track, making the unit difficult to open and close. The first step of cleaning your windows is brushing out the dirt with a clean, dry paintbrush.

Clean the Windows

If you have Renewal by Andersen windows, cleaning will be really easy. Most of the dirt can be washed off using a garden hose from the outside or simply with a sponge and a bucket of water. A cleaning solution made of dish detergent and water helps remove dirt from tight corners. Check for Leaks

Check your windows for signs of water leaks. This can happen even on new windows, so it’s not usually something to worry too much about. Sometimes gaps between window sashes occur when the window hardware alignment is slightly off or when the frame material slightly shrinks from the outdoor temperature.
