5 Signs That You Need New Windows

Windows are so invaluable to our day to day lives that we often take them for granted. There’s also the fact that they’re investments that need to be carefully thought out and spent for. Renewal by Andersen® of Portland looks at the 5 signs that you absolutely need new windows – in the form of questions.

1. Do your windows open?

Let’s face it: if your windows cannot open, then you definitely need replacement windows in Lake Oswego. This is common in homes with older, inherited windows or in homes where the windows have been painted over. It might not seem like a problem but this will start to get to you when you need to suddenly ventilate your home after a particularly poorly baked batch of cookies.

2. Are your windows older than you are?

This isn’t a problem in itself but it can be indicative of the possibility for breaks and cracks along the frame or the pane. It’s especially important when you have windows made from wood and older materials. Make sure to conduct regular inspections to be sure, though chances are very high that they’ll need replacement.

3. Is it suddenly cold inside with no windows open?

A home suffering from drafts and lower temperatures when it’s supposed to be sealed tight is prime for window replacement in Salem, Oregon. These drafts are indicative of air leaks in either your windows or doors. This isn’t just uncomfortable; it’s also very costly in terms of energy bills.

4. Do your windows require so much maintenance?

Modern windows hewn from our Fibrex® composite material require a splash to keep clean. If that’s news to you, then you fall under this question. Older wooden windows require far too much effort to keep clean, especially if they’re old, rotting, and peeling. A lot of care also has to be applied in order prevent further damage to the frame or pane. In the long run, newer can be better.

5. Is your insulation cling-wrap?

This is connected to number 3. As funny as it might sound, it is sadly a common quick-solution for many window problems. Sometimes it’s used to hold back drafts, to serve as impromptu weather protection, or even to keep insects out. Not only does it look unappealing but it hardly works too.

Made from Fibrex and High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass, Renewal by Andersen of Portland’s windows are durable, long-lasting, and energy-efficient. That means that opting for our windows as a replacement is more an investment than an expense. Call us now and we’ll be happy to help you decide.
