4 Reasons to Replace Windows Before Winter

Winter is coming. With conditions still relatively mild at the moment, now is the perfect time to prepare your home for the plunging temperatures and harsh weather of winter. Why not start with your windows?

In today’s post, Renewal by Andersen® of Portland lists four reasons to consider investing in replacement windows this fall.

1. Damaged Windows Will Cost You

Windows in a state of disrepair can be costly, particularly during the winter. Damaged windows with poor sealing let your heated indoor air leak out of your home, while the frigid outdoor air is invited inside. The result is a chilly interior and a heating system working overtime to compensate, driving up your energy bills in the process.

2. Winter Is an Inconvenient Time for Window Replacement

Installing replacement windows means removing your existing windows so that the openings in your walls are temporarily exposed to the elements. While we work efficiently and quickly on every installation, winter is simply not the ideal season to be undertaking such a project. Bad weather can also cause delays.

3. Older Windows Attract Mold and Mildew

Winter brings strong storms with all forms of precipitation. If your windows are old and worn down, the moisture can penetrate your home and lead to mold and mildew growth, which is a health risk for you and your family.

4. Damaged Windows Are an Eyesore

Finally, getting replacement windows before winter means that during the holiday season, your home will look its best. Old windows are an eyesore, but new windows can drastically increase your home’s curb appeal and make your home that much more inviting during the holidays.
