Easy Cleaning Features

We understand that certain window styles have areas that are difficult to reach, making window cleaning a challenge. Windows on upper stories of the home are especially difficult–and even dangerous–to clean. Either you’ll have to buy or rent additional cleaning tools, make do with partially clean windows, or risk injury by cleaning them from the outside using a ladder. Professional window cleaning is an option, but comes at a cost.

• Double-Hung Windows — Our double-hung windows feature sashes that can be tilted inward. Specially-designed clips hold the sashes securely in place, yet are easy to disengage when it’s time to clean both sashes.

• Sliding Windows — Our sliding windows are likewise easy to clean. The sashes can be lifted up from the frames, which lets you clean them from a more comfortable position.

• Casement Windows — Traditional hinged casement windows are notoriously difficult to clean from indoors, particularly the exterior-facing area near the hinges. Our casement windows feature operator arms that eliminate traditional hinges. The arms open and close the sashes in such a way that a gap is formed where the hinges normally are. As with our other operable window styles, our casement windows can be cleaned thoroughly and easily from inside your home.

Additional Features

We offer grilles that can be installed between the glass panels or on the interior surface. If you chose the latter, these grilles are attached using fasteners that allow easy removal. This prevents dirt and dust from accumulating in those tight corners. Also, all Renewal by Andersen® replacement windows are equipped with High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass packages. Among their other features is a metal oxide coating that reduces water spotting by up to 99% when activated by sunlight.
