Fibrex® Part 1: Benefits of Factory-Applied Colors

Renewal by Andersen® replacement windows feature frames and sashes made with our exclusive Fibrex® materials. One of the defining characteristics of this innovative composite material is the durable exterior finishes it can come with. In this first part of this two-part blog, Renewal by Andersen of Portland discusses the benefits of factory-applied colors and finishes.

What Is Fibrex?

Fibrex is a composite material made of polymer and wood fibers that was exclusively developed by our parent company Andersen® Corporation. Aware of the need for a better frame material than current options such as wood and vinyl, Andersen Corporation engineers began research on the material that would become Fibrex in 1958 and was eventually granted a patent in 1991. When Renewal by Andersen became Andersen Corporation’s full-service window replacement division, it only made sense to offer Fibrex as the replacement window frame material of choice.

Factory-Applied Colors and Finishes

Our replacement windows can be customized to complement your home’s existing interior and exterior color palettes, thanks to our wide selection of factory-applied colors and finishes. White is perhaps the most-used exterior color, as it matches existing white trim, but you can also choose dark colors such as cocoa bean or black if the exterior design calls for it. Additionally, we offer interior finishes in pine, oak and maple, which you can stain to better match your home’s existing wood trim.

Fibrex frames require virtually no maintenance. Unlike vinyl window frames with similar features, Fibrex is guaranteed not to crack, rot or decay. This means that your Renewal by Andersen replacement windows will never require scraping and repainting. We apply more than one coating of our colors and finishes, which makes the finish far more durable than paint alone.

In our next blog, we will take an in-depth look at the advantages of Fibrex over conventional window frame materials. Renewal by Andersen of Portland is your leading provider of custom window replacement options. Give us a call at (503) 419-3960 or fill out our contact form.
