Stylish Design Ideas for Large Kitchen Windows

Large kitchen windows allow much-needed natural light into your kitchen workspace, making the space look bright and cheery. They can a challenge to decorate, though. Whether you already have large kitchen windows or are planning on installing large replacement windows, here are some design ideas you should try out, courtesy of Renewal by Andersen® of Portland.

Bay and Bow Windows

Bay and bow windows are perhaps the most practical window styles, which makes them perfect for kitchens. They protrude from the wall, providing a small space that can function as a storage area or even small dining area. If you’re pressed for space, forget about a formal dining table. Move the dinner table in front of the bay window to form a banquette. A circular table works best with a bow window. Style the windows with sheer curtains so you can take full advantage of the natural light during daytime prepping and cooking.

Sliding Windows

Sliding windows give you excellent latitude with furniture and utility placement in the kitchen, thanks to the space-saving features. You can have a breakfast nook or counter installed facing sliding windows, which could even double as a service window for backyard parties. You will want window treatments that are unobtrusive, so roller or Roman shades are ideal. Renewal by Andersen lets you choose the sliding window configuration that suits the purpose of your kitchen. We can even complement the replacement windows with a sliding or French door if your kitchen connects to your patio.

Window Walls

A window wall is an ultimate way to open up your kitchen, and it should be considered if your remodeling project includes removing an entire wall. The best thing about custom-built replacement windows is that you can combine practically any window style, so you can balance ventilation with operable windows against views with fixed windows. For some curves or angles with your windows, we also offer specialty window shapes such as half-circles or triangles.
