Replacement windows can improve your home in many significant ways. With high-quality windows, you can enjoy better energy efficiency, comfort and beauty in your home, as well as many other benefits. Still, we know you have questions about the process of installing replacement windows, especially when it comes to technical matters.
In this post, Renewal by Andersen® of Portland answers your frequently asked questions about replacement windows.
A replacement window is a new window custom-built to fit the existing opening in your wall where your old window is located. At Renewal by Andersen, we take precise measurements of your wall opening to ensure a perfect fit. This ensures an airtight seal and excellent insulation for long-term performance and energy efficiency.
Fibrex® is a sustainable composite material made with real wood fiber and plastic polymer that we use for our window frames. It combines the strength of durability of wood with the low-maintenance properties of vinyl. The resulting material is naturally heat-resistant, stronger than either and insulates 700 times better than aluminum. These features enable us to create narrower window frames to maximize glass areas.
A low-emissivity glass is a special glass package with a microscopically thin and virtually invisible oxide layer. This reduces thermal transfer, allowing your windows to resist external heat outside in the summer and keep heat indoors in the winter. All our replacement windows use our low-E glass, which means they have high U-factor and low heat gain.
We cover all our windows with a fully transferable limited warranty that covers parts, labor and original installation. Our warranty gives you a 20-year limited warranty for glass, a 10-year limited warranty for other components and a two-year limited warranty on installation.
