5 Signs of a Bad Window Installation

If you feel drafts in the area around your windows, this is a telltale sign that the installation wasn’t done correctly. Signs of water damage such as pooling water, bubbling paint and visible mold also point to a flawed installation.

2. Gaps Between the Sill and Frame – For your window to properly fit the window opening, precise measurements must be taken. If you see gaps between the sill and frame, it may mean the contractor didn’t take the measurements correctly and so the installation was compromised.

3. Fog Between the Window Panes – If you notice condensation appearing between the window panes, it’s possible that the windows weren’t installed properly. One way you can determine this for sure is by cleaning the exterior side of the window. If the condensation can’t be wiped away, it’s likely that the window seal was broken during the window replacement.

4. Messy Caulking – The caulking is very important as it weather-proofs and seals your window. If you notice that the sides and top have messy or uneven caulking, it’s a sign of a bad window installation and should be rectified immediately.
