Which Window Styles Are Best for Improving Home Ventilation?

Patio doors and windows brighten up your living spaces by allowing more natural light inside. They help in increasing the curb appeal of your home and can even add to its value. Your windows also help in improving ventilation indoors, making them essential in moisture-prone areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens.

Here are window styles that help in improving home ventilation.

Bay Windows

Bay windows feature a set of three side-by-side windows projecting from a structure’s exterior wall at an angle. Most times, the window at the center is stationary, but the ones on the sides are operable, meaning you can open and close them. These windows are ideal for ventilation as the side windows can capture fresh air from various directions.

Consider replacement windows in this style if you have a lot of room at home. It requires quite a large window opening. You can usually see bay windows in living rooms and dining rooms, where they tend to be the focal point. However, some homeowners love to have theirs in the kitchen.

Casements

Casement windows are mounted on a hinge, either on the right- or left-hand side. The windowpane hinges outward at an angle once you turn a crank at the window’s base. The fresh air that passes open casement windows helps in ventilating your indoor spaces. This window style is ideal for almost all parts of your home, but they are more common in bathrooms and kitchens.

You can also improve your home’s energy efficiency by choosing casements. The sash seals of these windows seal tightly into the frame, preventing air leaks. They can help you stay comfortable while also saving you on energy costs.
