5 Best Uses for Bay Windows

Bay windows are one of the most practical window replacement styles because they can be used in several different ways. Read on as we share some creative ideas.

  1. Front Door View – The side windows of a bay window placed by the front door let you see who’s knocking. This is extremely useful whether you’re waiting on guests to arrive or a package to be delivered.

  2. Window Seat – Renewal by Andersen® bay windows are great as they are; however, you can customize them further by installing a window seat in the space with custom cushions and pillows. Thanks to our High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass packages, you can comfortably lounge in the window seat without worrying about getting too hot in the summer sun or shivering from drafts on a cold day.

  3. Storage Space – The nook created by the bay window can also be used as additional storage space. Open shelves are great for storing collections of records or books, while drawers are good for storing toys, blankets or clothes. You could also hire an upholsterer to make a custom ottoman-style storage cover. Furthermore, the space can also be used to hide the wireless router or a heating radiator.

  4. Kitchen Banquette – A bay replacement window in the kitchen may sound unusual, but it can be extremely useful as seating for a kitchen banquette. Our consultants can work with you to ensure the bay space suitable for kitchen seating. A banquette lets you reclaim about a foot or so of kitchen floor space, which makes it perfect for small kitchens. I

  5. Home Office – The nook created by the bay window can function as a workspace that’s perfect for a home office. You can install one upstairs overlooking a nice view; it will provide a small, private space that lets you concentrate on work.
